How Far Will A Woman Go For Beauty: Illegal Butt injections and The New Butt Craze
We've gone way too far as a society with the plastic surgery craze. There have been cases of teenage girls as young as six-teen going under the knife for plastic surgery procedures, now we have cases of women as old as sixty going under the knife to receive the same plastic surgery procedures teenagers are getting. Something is going on in society where the idea of the perfect body is becoming an obsession with the American people, especially American women. This isn’t about Black, White or Hispanic, or young or old, this is about women across the country who are willing to take it there to get the “perfect look” they desire.
I quote the words “perfect look” because for some odd reason, I can bet you that as you're reading this, someone... somewhere is consulting with a plastic surgeon or illegal medical operative. Right now many women are all about figuring out how to get in on the newest craze of plastic surgery; the “Ass Shots” or “Butt Injections”.
There is nothing new about “Ass Shots” or “Butt Injections”, but over the past 5 years there has been an increase in the attention given specifically to a woman’s buttocks. If you recall, breast implants were once the craze, where there was a large following of women willing to go under the knife and get larger breasts. So much attention has been given to the buttocks lately, it almost seems as if the breast obsession phase never existed. For example, take a look at the typical men’s magazines, calendars, clothing and fashion ads, ads for adult entertainment. Look at the poses some of our top entertainers do in photo-shoots. You will find that a lot of the attention that was once given to the bosom area, has now shifted to the mid-section and buttocks area on the average woman. This isn’t to say that breasts do not get as much attention, but you can notice in almost any field of photography, modeling, entertainment and cinema the attention is now largely on the “ass”.
Songs like “I Like Big Butts” (by Sir Mix-A-Lot) date back to earlier times when the woman’s behind was accentuated, but today with songs like “Ass” (Big Sean, Nicki Minaj), “Donk” (Soulja Boy), or “Round Of Applause” (Drake, Wakka Flocka) it is very clear what a lot of men (not all) look forward to in their dream woman. Words such as cake, donk, wagon, cruff, yank, cheeks, onion, monkey, bubble, truck and bumper have all been used to describe the shape and size of a woman's butt.
Now, where do society and us women come in you ask? Well, with people like Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Trina, Kim Kardashian, CoCo, Jennifer Lopez, Serena Williams, Buffie The Body and Amber Rose, we are well aware that having a large backside (whether it be real or fake) will have you greatly appreciated in the media and society.
The real question is: when what we see on television crosses paths with what we want to be in real life, how far are we as the “average Joe” willing to go in order to achieve that look?
