The get fly epidemic has taken the generation of children born in the 90’s by storm. Quite frankly the epidemic’s bandwagon is carrying more than it can hold. Many of the people obsessed with the “Get Fly Mentality” cannot even afford to support the movement, yet they’re completely engulfed. Very few followers of the “Get Fly” movement can actually afford, and manage to support the movement. It’s seems like the hood gets flyer just as quick as it gets poorer. Men and Women are on a constant hunt to find and follow the latest fashions on the dimes of their hard working or HARDLY working parents, and on the dime of others. Now, to clear the air, there is nothing wrong with being supported by your family until you get on your own feet; the issue arises when you start portraying yourself as the moneymaker and “baller” that you really aren’t. Young adults like to call it “fronting” or “faking it till you make it”. Men and Women from low economic standings are obsessed with what they wear, rather than where they live, how they transport, and how they’ll eat. Going out and finding a job pales in comparison to boosting, or stealing for money. Many men and women would rather wait around for money to spend on 5 and 6 hundred dollar designer brand clothing. To be straight up, many people are spending money they do not have. Many of the people we see with Burberry, Polo, Rugby, True Religion, Tavs, Nudies, Prada, Gucci, Hermes, Fendi, Emilio Pucci and Louis Vuitton don’t have enough money in their pockets to buy a decent meal. They aren’t living comfortable lives at home, they don’t have consistent means of transportation, and they’ll even have the nerve to ask you for money at times. | There is nothing wrong with buying something nice and expensive. There is nothing wrong with getting “Fly”. There is nothing wrong with mom or dad giving you some money to go out and get something nice. The problem is if you don’t have it like that, don’t front like you do. If you don’t know how you’re going to eat tonight, or if you don’t have money in your pockets don’t think that a Gucci loafer will save you. Now to everyone who said “that’s not me” the whole time they were reading this, I commend you. You probably have your priorities in order. If you get Burberry, Polo, Rugby, True Religion, Tavs, Nudies, Moncler, Prada, Gucci, Hermes, Fendi, Emilio Pucci and Louis Vuitton on a regular basis and can still afford to live and lead a comfortable life, you’re one of few. I say that because we are living in a generation of fake it till you make its. There are a gang of people with a “Get Fly Mentality” and they’re really living a “Broke Ass Reality”. |
